Marvel Comics continued its series of 2026 announcements Saturday at New York Comic Con’s “Next Big Thing” panel, revealing that a new Iron Man, written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Carmen Carnero, is in the works and scheduled to debut in January.

“I’m a huge Ironman fan. I’m a huge Ironman fan…and I knew it was time. I absolutely had to do this,” Williamson said. “Part of the book’s tagline is that Tony Stark is the most dangerous weapon in the Marvel Universe. When he went into the cave, Tony made the armor…but when you think about it, that armor wasn’t what he made in the cave. Tony made Tony.”

Madame Masque has been teased as the main villain, and additional characters such as Captain America, M.O.D.O.K., and Pepper Potts have been teased on the first issue’s promotional cover by Adam Kubert.

Check out the character design and interior art by Carnero and the main cover art by Ryan Stegman below.

Iron Man #1 will be released on January 28, 2026.

This panel also revealed the end of the ultimate universe, which has been building up for some time.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Marvel announced Ultimate Endgame, a five-issue limited series debuting in December following the return of Maker, so it’s no surprise that the current Ultimate Universe series is coming to an end. It looks like everything will be settled in April when the final issue of the limited series is released.

Dungeons of Doom & Sorcerer Supreme

At SDCC ’25’s “Next Big Thing” panel, Marvel released a preview image proclaiming, “The Sorcerer Supreme has fallen. Long live the Sorcerer Supreme.” The image depicts a horde of magic-wielding Marvel characters, and is accompanied by a cryptic teaser that says “Successor Begins” this December.

We now know that this was a teaser for Sorcerer Supreme, a new series spun out of One World Under Doom that will debut in December, but Marvel has yet to reveal its creative team in December recruitment.

At NYCC on Saturday, Marvel released another teaser from artist Devmalya Pramanik and colorist Rachel Rosenberg. It shows close-ups of several characters, focusing on Gambit, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Nico Minoru, Storm, and the Invisible Woman. It features the same cryptic text.

In addition to the new Sorcerer Supreme teaser, Marvel also revealed a three-issue Dungeons of Doom limited series that will debut in January. It also follows the events of One World Under Doom, with a screenplay by Philip Kennedy Johnson and Benjamin Percy, and art by Carlos Magno, Robert Gil, Justin Mason, and Georges Gentil.

“Ben Percy and I hit it off and we both love horror books,” Johnson said. “Without spoiling the events leading up to this series, there will be a major conflict in Latveria, and all of these factions will end up in places they didn’t know were there.

“The Marvel Universe horror anthology is set to see the various factions of the Marvel Universe open their doors and discover the horrors that Doom has been keeping hidden,” he explained.
