Marvel is giving Wiccan the much-anticipated solo spotlight on Wiccan: Witches’ Road. Marvel Comics debuted in a limited series on five islands, from author Wyatt Kennedy (X-Men: The Wedding Special) and artist Andy Pereira.
First featured in Young Avengers, Wiccan has become one of Marvel’s most famous next generation heroes. Following the live-action appearance in Agatha, the character now embarks on a dark, mystical journey that pushes his power and legacy to their limits. The story comes after Wiccan and Hulkling’s recent roles in Jonathan Hickman’s Empire, where Hulkling is seriously injured and forced Wicca to the path of a dangerous witch. Along the way, he encounters a terrifying new enemy, unexpected allies, and a revelation that could shape the magical order of Marvel’s universe.
“This series takes Billy in a completely unexpected direction,” teased Kennedy. “We introduce a new villain who is an incredible ally and truly explore the meaning of him holding the Wiccan mantle.
For Pereira, the project is a dream come true. “The drawing for Marvel is to survive my childhood dream,” he says, thanking his mentors, friends and family for helping him reach this milestone. “My debut was Wiccan’s debut as a solo star, and I’m excited that our entire team is putting everything into making it special.”
Wiccan: Witches Road #1 has a main cover with Lucas Wellneck and is available in variations by Russell Dorman, Lucia No Vecchio and others. Fans can now see Pereira’s interior for the first time and pre-order their debut issue from their local comic shop ahead of its December release.
