Just in time for Halloween, Marvel is reminiscent of a brand new magical adventure with the four limited series, the Strange Tale, which will be released this October. Written by Jeremy Whitley (Unstoppable WASP, navigate with you) – fresh from the victory of the Stonewall Honor Award and described by Bayleigh Underwood (Marvel United: A Pride Special), this series brings together some of Marvel’s most powerful magical users.
The cast includes fan favorites such as Scarlet Witch, Wicca, Nico Minor and Doctor Strange, and blends with the supernatural aspects of the Marvel Universe and the unpredictable energy of the tabletop role-play game.
Roll the dice… dare.
It all starts on Halloween night. Nico Minor, her girlfriend Karolina Dean and friends Billy Kaplan and Teddy Altman gather for a fun evening of RPG Chaos at Hoosegows and Hydras. However, when a mysterious roll of dice takes the goblin into the real world and destroys her friend, Nico suddenly finds himself running around New York City, with a very real dragon nearby.
Unable to turn anywhere else, she ends up at the final door of the scar witch. Together, these two spellcasters need to track down the missing heroes and unravel the mystery of how their tabletop games have become horribly realistic.
“I’ve always loved the eerie horns of Marvel’s universe,” Whitley said. “Mixing it with my love for tabletop RPGs and bringing it all back to life through Bailey Underwood’s art was an absolute explosion. I think the fans are doing a real treat.”
Strange Tales #1 introduces the main cover of Bayleigh Underwood with variant covers from Annie Wu and Gretel Lusky. Pre-orders are currently open at local comic shops.
