DC Comics revealed that the new history of the DC Universe will be coming to the comic shop on June 25th. Written by Mark Wade and featuring art by a rotating group of premier artists starting with Jerry Ordway and Todd Nauk, the fourth series is seen through the eyes of The Barry Allen, aka The Flash, past and present in the DC Universe.
“This is my dream project,” said Wade, the series’ author. “It’s an opportunity to reorganize all the vast continuity of DC into one master timeline and bring some of the comic’s greatest artists to participate and shine. Even for longtime fans, there’s plenty of information about Easter Eggs, and this series is essential for DC fans.”
Waid records Barry Allen’s journey from the birth of the DC universe to the rise of the Justice Society and the golden age of heroes.
“I’m having an absolute explosion with this project,” said co-artist Nauk. “Mark came up with something cool for me to draw on every page. It was an honor to share Art Jois with comic legends like Jerry Ordway. The DC editorial team is learning new aspects of DC history that I didn’t know before. And I’m reading DC Comics!”
“As one of the artists who were part of the endless planet crisis in the 1980s, co-artist Jerry Ordway is pleased to be caught up in telling this latest DC Universe story with Mark and Todd.”
There’s also a star-studded lineup of cover artists with the first issue featuring Chris Samnee’s main cover, as well as variant covers by Dan Mora (Justice League Unlimited, Superman), Ryan Sook (Black Canary: Best of the Best) and Mike Cho. Sook also offers a breathtaking wraparound foil variant. Artist Scott Koblish offers a series of connected wraparound variant covers for the series, depicting DC’s iconic characters in chronological order in each issue.
