Manga artist and illustrator Adam de Souza is self-publishing two collections of comics, Mutt Mug and Blind Alley Volume 3, available this June. It can be obtained here.
Blind Arrange Volume 3 brings together this modern take on this modern newspaper comic strip, bringing together adorable cast of bite-sized fun and naughty kids. The collection consists of comic strips from March 2024 to June 2025, and previously included Sunday strips exclusively for Patreon.
The neighborhood is full of sensitive children and strange balls, not exclusive to adult managers. It’s even debate where their parents are, where they work, and what’s going on in the alleys. Needless to say, the alleys are mysterious places. Adam de Souza is a camera where creatures introduce the world hiding in the sewer, where children talk to trees, and birds report to someone or something.
In this volume, Lula has a blossoming friendship with Uncle Michael and the Alley Cat. 10 deals with his mother’s deceased emotional fallout. Sweetpea tackles the limits of her powers and is entangled with her deep jealous impulses. And Penny the dog tries to find a way back to the alley, along with more stories!
Mutt Mag is an anthology that collects original stories, just like previous works. The volume includes seven affectionate, character-driven comics, including a brand new set in the Blind Alley World, the vampire story “Zoonosis” and the charming fairy tale romp “Brambles.” It also includes illustrations, reader emails and introductions from the author. Everything is printed on beautiful off-white paper in paperback shape.
De Souza is known for his acclaimed graphic novel The Gulf (see review here) and his previous work on the award-winning comic strip brinted array.
