Titan Manga, an imprint of Titan Comics, has announced the release of a manga version of Uketsu’s bestselling horror novel Strange Pictures. This work was brought to life by artist Noriyuki Aiba (also known as Noriyuki Aiba, whose credits include the “Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle-” side DH&BAT). The 160-page first volume will be released on June 2, 2026, and retails for $12.99.

Strange Pictures, first published in 2022, is a Japanese mystery horror novel written by popular YouTuber Uketsu and translated into English by Jim Lyon in 2025. The novel is structured around a series of paintings, each of which contains clues about the plot’s larger interconnected mysteries, which the reader is invited to solve together with the narrator. The Masked Writer’s novels became a worldwide phenomenon, acclaimed for their complex and unique format, and became worldwide bestsellers.

In October 2024, Aiba began adapting “Strange Pictures” into a manga on Futabasha’s manga action website. Volume 3 was shipped on August 7, 2025.

Strange Pictures is a spine-tingling manga adaptation of Uketsu’s best-selling debut novel brought to life by artist Noriyuki Aiba. A mysterious masked writer who has become one of Japan’s most talked about authors, Uketsu first captivated readers with novels that sold millions of copies. Now the horror unfolds panel by panel.

At its core are nine childlike sketches. A pregnant woman’s graffiti on her blog contains a dire warning. A boy’s simple drawing of his home contains a hidden message that no child should know. A murder victim’s final sketch provides a clue that draws an amateur detective into a labyrinth of secrets. Each photo seems unremarkable at first glance, but when pieced together they reveal a web of unsolved mysteries and shattered psyches.

For fans of Junji Ito and modern psychological horror, Strange Pictures turns the ordinary into the macabre. Some of the images may fade, but these horrors remain etched in our memories.

Strange Pictures Volume 1 is available for pre-order from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million in the US, and Forbidden Planet in the UK and Europe.
