Lower Decks bow at two Hugo Awards

Rocus Magazine, Star Trek: Lower Decks (both the show and its tie-in comics) won two prizes at this year’s Hugo Awards, celebrating the best sci-fi and fantasy-related works of 2024. RyanNorth and Chris Fenoglio’s choices, choose your own adventure book. Short form.

The awards announced last night at Seattle World Con 2025, the 83rd Annual World Science Fiction Convention, mark the first Hugos of the franchise since Star Trek: Next Generation series finale, “All Good Things…”. And for IDW Publishing in the Best Graphic Story or Comic category.

Warp Your Own Way is Molly Knox Ostertag, G. Willow Wilson & Chris Wildgoose’s The Hunger and the Dusk Vol. 1 (published by IDW), Marjorie Liu & Sana Takeda’s Monstress, vol. 9: My favourites are the Monsters, Book by Emile Ferris 2, Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans and Clayton Cowles, we called them giants.

Meanwhile, “The New Next Generation” defeats another lower deck episode, “Fissure Quest” (written by Lauren McGuire and directed by Brandon Williams), Fallout’s “The Beginning” (by Gursimran Sandhu and Wayne Che Yip), and Agatha is all episode 7, “Death’s Hand” Yard” and “Dot and Bubble” (written by Russell T. Davis and directed by Dylan Holmes Williams).

Plus, the best novel went to Robert Jackson Bennett for the contaminated cup. Rebecca Lonehorse won her second Hugo in the Best Between Earth and Sky series. The best games and interactive jobs went to the Caves of Qud. Dunes: Part 2 saw the best dramatic presentations, long forms, overflow, Juliosa, TV glow, and evil robots.
