In 2022, Fresh Monkey Fiction & Toyotter Toys launched the Longbox Heroes Collection CrowdFunding campaign to create retro 4.5-inch action action based on some of the comic book characters owned by the most popular creators, including Madman, The Tick, Grendel, The Rocketeer and more.

Earlier this week, Longbox Heroes Collection launched its Kickstarter campaign to create the latest action figures for the second wave based on comic book characters owned by the most acclaimed creators.

The campaign has only been on display for a few days and is already close to 25% of its $150,000 target. I hope it succeeds here.

Official details below:

That’s right, The Longbox Heroes Collection™ is back! This New Wave features an entirely new selection of new action figures based on some of the biggest names of creator-owned comic heroes (and villains), including Thick™, Arthur™, and Hedge Ninja™ created by Ben Edlund. Grendel Prime™ created by Kevin Matchstick™, Christine Spar Grendel™ and Matt Wagner. Rocketeer™ and Betty created by Dave Stevens. Savage Dragon™ and Malcolm Dragon™ created by Erik Larsen. Halloween Fire™ created by Tim Seeley.

Each number is designed and sculpted by a production directed by toy industry veteran and historian Jason Gayer, aka Toyota Toys, Fresh Ape Fiction. These retro style action figures are created independently to have the look and feel of classic action figures from the 1980s, and are expected and worthwhile by playable articulation fans.

All numbers in the Longbox Heroes Wave 2 collection fit together seamlessly with all the people in the Longbox Heroes Wave 1 collection, along with many other lines of factors in this form of superpower heroes, both past and present. Some numbers for Wave 1 are still available on the Bigbadtoystore. Check out this review of Wave 1 from the Super Powers review on YouTube.

When you meet your fundraising goals during your campaign, there are some great stretch goals planned. You can see many of them listed below. Check out these amazing rewards and complete your Longbox Heroes collection today!

All unlocked rewards are listed below. If you need multiple numbers, choose the reward for the first number. You can then add the remaining numbers you need through Kickstarter’s additional features before completing your commitment to endorsing this project.

Radioactive tick ($25)
Created by Ben Edland, Tick is a hilarious, absurd superhero dressed in an antenna blue suit. Invincible yet comically naive, he battles the strange villains of the city alongside his moth costumed partner, Arthur. Known for his cries of battle, “Spoon!” ticks in this version are translucent green radioactive.

Arthur ($25)
Arthur, from Ben Edrund’s Tick, is a gentle, managed former accountant and becomes a passive hero in his moth-inspired costume. As Tick’s loyal partner, he brings intelligence and practicality to their chaotic adventures. Although he himself does not know Arthur’s determination and heart, he has become an important partner in fighting an absurd villain.

Rocketer ($25)
Created by Dave Stevens, Rocketeer is Cliff Secord, a bold stunt pilot who discovered Jetpack giving him the power of flight. Set in Los Angeles in the 1930s, Cliff fights gangs, spies and plots while protecting his girlfriend Betty. With his sophisticated helmet and retro charm, he is a great pulp age hero.

Betty ($25)
Dave Stevens’ Rocketeer Betty is an attractive model inspired by the 1930s pin-up icon Bettie Page. As Cliff Secord’s girlfriend, she is strongly determined, intelligent, intensely independent, and often finds herself swept over into bold adventures. Betty’s charm, wit and loyalty make her a seductive and integral part of the Rocketters world.

Kevin Matchstick ($25)
Kevin Matchstick, the protagonist of Matt Wagner’s magician, is an ordinary man who discovers that he is a modern incarnation of a legendary hero armed with a mysterious baseball bat as his weapon. Reluctant but courageous, Kevin is led by his mysterious allies and on a journey of adventures of self-discovery, destiny and mythological, fighting dark powers.

Grendel Prime ($25)
Created by Matt Wagner, Grendel Prime is a cybernetic warrior and the most terrifying incarnation of Grendel’s legacy. A nearly incorrect enforcer, dressed in black armor, he swings a sword of deadly energy. Stoic and relentless Grendel Prime crosses the dystopian landscape and performs missions of revenge, survival and brutal justice in a dark future.

Grendel Christine Sper ($25)
Created by Matt Wagner, Christine Spur is the second Grendel driven by vengeance after the murder of his son. A fierce journalist-turned-vigilante, she takes up the mantle of Hunter Rose and swings around his iconic fork blades. Consumed by rage, she fought crime in a brutal quest for justice, and ultimately succumbed to Grendel’s violent legacy.

Malcolm Dragon ($25)
Created by Eric Larsen, Malcolm Dragon is the son of Savage Dragon, and inherits his father’s superhuman strength, durability and regenerative abilities. Growing up under enormous expectations, Malcolm takes on the mantle of his heroes and fights powerful enemies in Chicago. Determined, resilient, he forgets his own legacy, while respecting his father’s heroic path.

Savage Dragon ($25)
Created by Eric Larsen, the Savage Dragon is an extremely powerful green skin amnesia with incredible strength and regeneration. Found in a burning field, he becomes a Chicago police officer, fighting villains, mutants and corruption. With his unwavering sense of justice and a merciless spirit of battle, he remains the cornerstone of the superhero universe of image comics.

Hedge Ninja ($25)
Tick’s nasty hedge ninja created by Ben Edland is an overly dramatic family, obsessed with stealth and honor, and often fails miserably. Leading by the mysterious Tanra, they lurk in the shadows of the city and engage in absurd plans.

Hello Fire ($25)
Created by Tim Seeley, Harrowfire follows Chicago’s Alder Woman Eve Burns. Now she sees his spirit and leads towards the evil one. Wearing a Halloween mask, which means the last trick-or-treat, she burns corruption.
