Little Fighter vows to defeat the legendary martial artist

Ash may be small, but he’s definitely going to make his presence felt in The Littlest Fighter. Eisner Award nominee Joey Weiser’s latest book is perfect for anyone who likes to read about people who defy expectations.

Published by Oni Press, The Littlest Fighter revolves around a novice fighter named Ash, who despite being the size of a human child, is able to defeat champions larger than himself. But of all the people he has fought and defeated, Ash has his eyes set on a legendary champion, a warrior who disappeared at the very moment he reached the top of his game. Despite his new friend Dot’s encouragement to quit fighting, Ash is determined to find the legendary champion and find out why he quit fighting.

Weiser has written numerous books, including “Dragon Racer,” which was nominated for the Georgia Writers of the Year Award for “Young Adult.” Ghost Hog, which was nominated for the Kids Comics Award for “Most Epic Adventure,” and the Eisner Award-nominated Mermin graphic novel series, also published by Oni Press.

“Ash is a little guy with big goals, and he packs quite a punch!” Weiser said. “One of my big challenges when creating this book was experimenting with scale, which I think makes Ash’s work all the more impactful. You can see that it can lead to negative results.”

What are the unintended consequences? The book won’t be published until spring, but for now readers can check out a preview here.

The 168-page The Littlest Fighter hits bookshelves on March 18, 2025.
