Library of Congress to host Dav Pilkey before release of ‘DOG MAN’

Just before the DreamWorks Animation movie “Dogman” hits theaters on January 31st, the Library of Congress will host a “Hero Party” with creator Dav Pilkey on Wednesday, January 29th. The 58-year-old author will talk about his latest best-selling book. He will talk about his children’s series Dogman: Big Jim Begins (now in theaters) and his approach to teaching children compassion and empathy in his books, and participate in a meet-and-greet with fans. The event also includes sneak previews of the movie, photo opportunities with Dogman costume characters, creating your own comic station, and a variety of other activities, and will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. It is held in the hall for children and families. 3.30pm local time.

Pilkey says: “The library changed my life.As a child who struggled to read, it was one of my fondest memories growing up. One was going to the library with my mom. It helped me connect books with pleasure. Reading without judgment was a turning point in my life. It sparked a lifelong love of books. I’m honored to be invited back to the world’s largest library. Thank you to Dr. Carla Hayden (Library Director) and the amazing team at the Library of Congress for your dedication to children’s literature. They are the ultimate heroes.”

The library and Pilkey previously collaborated on Dav Pilkey at Home, a series of educational videos posted online to help children maintain an interest in art and reading during the COVID-19 pandemic. was. The event kicks off Pilkey’s international “Celebrating Heroes Around the World” tour, which will include stops in Kansas City, Detroit, Dallas, Orlando, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and Dublin, Ireland, to promote the film’s release.
