Kana, a manga imprint for Abrams Comic Cart, has announced the long-awaited English release of Billy Butt from Nagasaki Takasaki in Nagasaki. The first volume arrives in June 2026 and begins an ambitious plan to release a complete 20-volume series with four volumes a year.
Originally a series of Japanese songs from 2008 to 2016, Billy Batt is a radical historic thriller following Japanese-American comic artist Kevin Yamagata. After creating a hit detective comic about bats, Kevin discovers that the characters may already exist in Japan, and is drawn into a global web of plot, murder and mystery for centuries.

Lauded for Monsters, 20th Century Boys, and Pltune, Urasawa is widely regarded as one of the greatest storytellers in the manga. His collaborator, Nagasaki Takahashi, who worked with him in those titles, brings him editing expertise and a keen story vision.
Kana editor Kristiina Korpus calls the release “The Kana Team’s Dream Project” and is paying attention to the excitement of making the series available in English in the end.
Billy Butt Vol. 1 will be available everywhere in bookstores and comic shops for $13.99 in June 2026.
