Every week there’s a real horny that hits the stands of new comics. Readers often know exactly what they are most interested in (they have their pull lists sitting in the reliable hands of comic shops), but they are sometimes told about opposing that old trim and judging the book by its cover.
Some truly amazing cover art hits every week. These were the ones that caught Colin’s eye for the week of June 11th, 2025.
Absolute Batman #9
Variants by Dunhip
The large, bulky blues overlooks the dump. Take it as Canon, which has a chocolate bar in the absolute universe named “Absolute Revenge.” After all, the multiverse is a strange place. Perhaps the main point of the difference between this and the major DC universe is that Hershey or Nestle was at a crisis of true goth brand identity. And here we are.
Batman and Robin #22
Variants by Javier Fernandez
Show me your hands for those who are just as excited about the look of Etrigan as I do. Big or small (and in this Fernandez cover, Big is the surgical descriptor), I am keen on all the roles of Kirby’s rhyming demons. To enjoy this book, you need to keep up with about 20 issues in the book, but I know that it’s a journey that I meant to take for a while.
Blood type #1
Variant by Albert Monteys
This Montace cover is a fun recreation of a 1953 Mud 3 cover. I had a great reprint of those first handfuls of crazy cartoons and I was aged every panel. It’s a joy to see this modernised thing. Batboy became even more greedy. This raises the question: Will the new EC find a place for comedy comics (though MAD is currently owned by DC)?
The death of Silver Surfer #1
Cover by Dike Ruan
This is an incredibly harsh image of a surfer, and his board has been transformed into a red border between life and death (probably). It is the yin and yang of the image, a wonderful touch that slowly blends in with the surfer’s skin’s highlights into the white field. He is an iconic visual character and has become metaphysical.
One World Under Doom #5
Variant by RB Silver
Magically devastated Skeleton Doom looks like he managed to get off the cover of his death metal album here. Dormammu’s fiasco leaves behind some horrifying damage, and Silva is now turning his attention to the eerieness of it.
Runaway #1
Cover by Stephanie Hans
Another album cover image: The runaway here could be a budding post-punk act (if there weren’t any actual punk acts that beat the name yet). Stephanie Hans films casual cool here. This may not allow you to see a glimpse inside the actual hijink.
Supergirl #2
Variant by David Talaski
This feels like a celebration of Rockwell’s American iconography, but it raises doubts: did those kids just see Kara turn into her superhero outfit? It seems to be breaking some kind of superhero code.
Trans #21
Variants by Simon Par
Are there always internal debates in Transformers Collector action figures about whether they appear on shelves in robot mode or vehicle mode? This cover answers the question: Maybe both? Starscream is streamlined and looks majestic in both modes. The more iconic Jet is hard to find in modern comic fiction.
