In an inexplicable announcement on Tuesday, 2000, the story of a new judge called the Death of the Jury, coming soon from artist Mike Perkins and character co-creator John Wagner.
But that’s all the information shared by UK publishers besides that they appear on the 2000 ad pages. However, we don’t know when the story will begin.
But the story, called the death of a judge, attached to Wagner as a writer, feels like a big deal. Potentially. Judge Dread is older than your usual famous comic characters, so it doesn’t feel like a big jump to assume that this story might actually kill Judge Dread. Is it unlikely? perhaps! But who really knows.
Wagner is always responsible for switching the status quo for Judge Dread in the resulting story arc. The judge’s death marks the first new work with the character since last year’s Judge Dredd: Machine Rule (read Wagner talking about here). This may be a deadline as that arc has had greater results for the (robot) characters around the Dread than the Dread itself.
You’ll understand immediately. For now, I’ll leave you with a lonely image of 2000 that comes with this announcement…please enjoy! And be careful!
