DC Comics announced a new Red How ongoing series this September, bringing Jason Todd back to center stage instead of Gotham.
Acclaimed author Gretchen Felker Martin is art and written by Jeff Spokes, Red Hood #1 will debut on September 10, 2025, under the mature DC leader “All in” label (ages 17 and above). This is not your typical Bat family story. Jason Todd has left Gotham and Batman. Now he heads to the corrupt city of New Angelque, bringing only essentials, including his suit, bicycle, a relentless drive for justice, a metal case filled with firearms and ammunition.
Given the Hush 2 is in the works and plans to cull one or two Robins, it’s clear that Jason is alive.
Felker Martin describes the series as a brutal and emotional ride.
The spokes said, “This is raw and peeling storytelling. It’s violent, gritty and a little sexy. Gretchen’s script feels like a fusion of pulp noir and superhero drama.
According to DC editor Arianna Turturro, this was awaited by Jason Todd story fans.
The plot begins with Jason investigating a powered-up serial killer targeting police in New Angelke. As he delves deeper, he is drawn into a dangerous plot that could potentially consume the entire city.
But Jason is not alone. The Huntress (Helena Bertinelli) is on his trail. The big question is whether she’s here to stop him or will she team up? As Turturro puts it, “These are two victims, shaped by pain and violence, and when they collide, they can help each other heal or make things worse.”
Red Hood promises to become a raw, emotionally recharged story of what happens when the exile tries to incorporate justice into his own hands. “Jason is paving his way in a new city,” says Tarturro. “No, we’re not restraining.”
Red Hood #1 will hit the shelves and digital platforms on September 10th, 2025, with pre-orders starting June 20th. The debut issue features Jeff Spokes’ main cover and variations of Jim Lee, Brian Boland, Je Lee, Kyuyong Ohm and Nick Robless. Starting with question #2, Taurine Clark offers a regular series cover.
