As filmmaker and DC Studios co-head James Gunn has repeatedly stated, DC Studios is opting for a “soft-a-reboot” approach. Among the victims is fan favorite Jason Momoa, who breathed new life into Aquaman. Considering the lukewarm response to the recent movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, this isn’t really a shock. However, in recent years, there has been widespread speculation that Momoa was not yet fully cast in the DC Universe and was actually being considered for the role of Alien’s bad boy Lobo, and this casting choice has been widely criticized by the fan community. had received approval. Today, Deadline announced that Jason Momoa has been officially cast as Lobo in the new Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow. Momoa confirmed his immense enthusiasm on Instagram and spoke out.

Gunn likewise welcomed Jason Momoa’s return to the DC Universe on social media.

Created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen, the alien bounty hunter Lobo made his debut in Omega Men #3. Lobo, the last member of the Tsarnians, is often considered the “anti-Superman,” so it’s no wonder the two have often paired up over the years. Lobo has appeared in both animation and live-action, most notably in the 90’s Superman: The Animated Series, voiced by Brad Garrett, and in Krypton, voiced by Emmett J. Scanlan. ” is a live-action series.

Needless to say, DC Comics, unlike Marvel Studios, has never been able to get its own cinematic universe off the ground. But with Marvel Studios, under the direction of Gunn and Peter Safran, having struggled in recent years, DC Studios appears to have found its footing.

Filming on Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow is set to begin next month, with actress Millie Alcock reportedly set to play the title role. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira and is based on the 2022 comic book series by writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Every.
