It’s January now, and for many of us living in the northern hemisphere, that means staying indoors to escape the cold. To help you make the most of your time, Xbox is adding more than a dozen titles to Game Pass in the coming weeks.
Let’s take a look at the services in chronological order of introduction, starting with Lonely Mountain: Snow Riders (Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X/S (via Game Pass Ultimate and PC)). This multiplayer ski game will be added to Game Pass on day one.
A ton of games are coming to the service on Wednesday. Flock (consoles via Game Pass Standard) is another multiplayer game, but this one is a co-op adventure where you collect adorable creatures in your buds. Gigantic: Rampage Edition (cloud, console, and PC via Game Pass Ultimate PC and Standard) is a MOBA that I really enjoyed. It’s the return of a previously closed game, but this time there will be no microtransactions.
One of last year’s most interesting games, Kunitu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, will also join the console’s Game Pass Standard lineup on Wednesday, along with pixel art platformer Magic Delicacy. Additionally, Game Pass Standard members can check out the absolutely amazing open-world adventure Tchia on Xbox Series X/S. It was my second favorite game of 2023.
Sharp-eyed detectives may enjoy the critically acclaimed The Case of the Golden Idol, which will be available on Game Pass Standard on consoles starting January 22nd. This wasn’t for me, but it might be for you. Tomorrow’s final Game Pass additions are for the Ultimate and Standard levels. Intergalactic sandbox Starbound will be available on cloud and consoles (already on PC Game Pass).
Two more opening day games will be introduced on January 28th. There’s been some buzz about the action RPG Eternal Strands, and you can find out more about it on the cloud, console, and PC via Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap debuts on the same version of Game Pass, but only on Series X/S instead of Xbox One.
On January 29th, puzzle platformer Shady Part Of Me is coming to the cloud, PC, and consoles in all three Game Pass versions. The next day, Sniper Elite: Resistance joins Game Pass’ Ultimate and PC flavors as a day-one newcomer.
This month we’re also introducing another day of Game Pass in the form of Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Xbox Series X/S on Cloud, PC, Ultimate and PC Game Pass). This is the long-awaited sequel to the acclaimed RPG that will be released in 2022. Good news if you haven’t played the original yet and are a multi-platform gamer. Citizen Sleeper has been featured today in the PlayStation Plus games catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers.
Now in February, Xbox has announced another Game Pass addition for the month. On February 4th, Far Cry New Dawn will be available to the cloud, consoles, and PC across all three Game Pass services.
Last but not least, Xbox revealed the titles that will be leaving Game Pass on January 31st across the cloud, consoles, and PC. They are “Anuchard,” “Broforce Forever,” “Darkest Dungeon,” “Death’s Door,” “Maquette,” and “Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem.”
On top of that, Xbox is hosting a Developer Direct Showcase this Thursday, showcasing fresh looks at Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Claire Obscur: Expedition 33, and Mystery Games. Perhaps one of them may suddenly appear on Game Pass as a surprise on its first day of release this week as well.
