DC’s All In initiative is adding a touch of magic to the lineup. The publisher has announced Zatanna, a new six-issue miniseries starring the DCU’s resident queen of magic. The new series, written and illustrated by Jamal Campbell and written and endorsed by Ariana Maher, will see Gee and her support staff face off against a new enemy.

DC describes Zatanna this way:

In a new limited comic series, Zatanna reunites her stage crew and looks forward to a new, more chaotic chapter in her life. But her plans are interrupted before they can begin when her crew is kidnapped by a ghostly new enemy, Lady White. Now Zatanna is caught up in a conspiracy of tricks, swords, and curses that threatens to tear her apart from the inside out.

The series is writer/artist Jamal Campbell’s first standalone series for DC, having previously worked on Naomi with writers Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker, and Far Sector with writer NK Jemisin. He illustrated books such as ‘. Campbell is also an artist on the current Superman series with Joshua Williamson, and previously wrote and illustrated the two-part Nightwing story for the anthology Batman: Urban Legends.

In a statement announcing the new series, Campbell expressed his enthusiasm for tackling Zatanna and her world:

“Wonder, mystery, mischief, and fishnet stockings are the core of the quintessential Zatanna Zatara stage show. It’s time for her to step back into the spotlight,” said Campbell. “In her latest DC Comics series, Zatanna is dragged down a rabbit hole filled with cursed swords, hidden truths, and death over and over again. She must work her way out the other side safely. It will require all the wisdom and all the spells she can muster.”

“It was a dream to take on the world of Zatanna, introduce completely new allies and adversaries, and bring back old classics that haven’t been seen in a while,” Campbell continued. “I’m weaving all of my appreciation for this character into this page to show and prove why Zatanna is so fascinating.”

Check out the preview page for the first issue of the series and variant covers by Campbell, Chris Bachalo, Jaime Mendoza (Open to Order), Sozomica (Open to Order), and David Tarasky (Open to Order). ), Saowee (1:25), and Derrick Chew (DC Showcase variant), below. Zatanna #1 (of 6) is expected to be in stores on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
