The king of cartoons is officially immortal on the streets where his legend began. On July 9th, Marvel joined the Kirby family and unveiled “Jack Kirby Way” and “Yancy Street” on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The tribute celebrates not only Kirby’s towering legacy, but also his roots in New York City, the birthplace of many of his life and Marvel’s biggest works.
At the heart of the event was a heartfelt nod to the Fantastic Four. For Marvel, this moment is a powerful reminder of Kirby’s visionary creativity and the city that helps shape it.
As Marvel said:
“The Fantastic Four is Marvel’s heart and soul, so this commemoration is a truly special moment to celebrate Jack’s accomplishments in the city.
The dedication was celebrated across Marvel’s social media platforms. Check out the video from the event:
Whether you’re a lifelong Marvel fan or a newcomer, Jack Kirby Way has become a permanent reminder of the impact one-man and one city in the world of imagination.
Thanks to the new movie, it is the year of Fantastic Four, and this is the first comic that appeared this week!
