Since Skybound unveiled the ongoing series of The New Transformers as part of the Smash-Hit Energon Universe Line, fans have been defending a bit for Decepticon’s leader Megatron for the return journey. As the proverb says, good things come to those who are waiting. After nearly two years of bullying, Big Badbot finally made his presence known in this week’s issue of Transformers #18.

Today, Skybound has announced its interior page. The series has won two Eisner Awards since April 9, 2025 from the available Comic Book Shop, featuring author Daniel Warren Johnson and guest artist Ludo Lullabi and guest colorist Adriano Lucas.

Transformers #19 will be a story focused on standalone Megatron before the title’s fourth story arc, which has confirmed that Johnson marks the end of his title’s tenure. It seems like a safe bet to expect Skybound to announce its next creative team in time for San Diego Comic-Con in July.

Until then, fans can expect Johnson and his creative team to pull out all the stops. A word, sharks, sharks!

As an executive editor, Ben Abernathy teased.

“When Daniel pitched the idea for this story, we knew we would invite special artists to do so. Rud Larabi was the first name that came to mind,” commented executive editor Ben Abernathy. “I loved his work from World of Warcraft and Battle Chasers, and his athletic storytelling and attention to detail were perfect for a Megatron-centric storyline.”

In addition to Daniel Warren Johnson’s main cover and series colorist Mike Spicer, the lineup of variant covers for Transformer #19 includes an open-order cover B by series artists Jorge Corona & Mike Spicer. 1:100 incentive variants by Pham Chuong, guest artists Ludo Lullabi & Guest Colorist Adriano Lucas, and blank sketch covers.

Transformers #19 (month code below | $3.99) is available on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at comic book shops and digital platforms such as Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

The complete list of variant covers is as follows:
