In light of the political turmoil of the coming months, the latest comic to be published by Black Mask is the tongue-in-cheek How to Steal an Election (Before Someone Else Does) #1. Written by Matteo Pizzolo, with illustrations by Elisa Pocchetta, colors by James Offready, letters by Reed Hinckley Barnes, and covers by Pocchetta and Jasmine Darnell, this exciting new series was officially released just yesterday. Of course, the series takes a fun and sexy swipe at the upcoming current political event: our modern-day election.
Here’s the official story synopsis:
Roxanne Bronner is a freshman congresswoman vying to win the presidential primary by a wide margin, but her campaign is derailed when her teenage past as a cam girl known as “Fast Roxie” is revealed. Abandoned by her campaign team and booted from the Democratic primary, Roxanne seeks help from her old friend and rival from her chaotic, anarchic days as a cam girl, hustler extraordinaire Bebe Greibb, and under his guidance, she launches a loud, outspoken third-party campaign.
But what begins as an all-consuming frenzy of revenge escalates into a wild adventure to wrest democracy from the cold, dead hands of politicians. A riotous, manic, R-rated comedy about taking down hypocrites, looking out for friends, and roasting marshmallows while everything burns down.
This is a comic that goes from mundane to ridiculous in just a few pages. It has a very ridiculous premise and a ton of sexy appeal. The message is sex-positive and, oddly enough, a strong political commentary on our political times. Above all, it questions our party mentality and, most importantly, speaks honestly about how badly the country is and why it’s time for a different type of president.
