There is very little that none of our readers notice, so it’s less than three months before the release of the new The Superman film that’s coming out in July. So it’s not at all surprising that DC has already rolled the ball this week to capitalize on the film’s excitement with the Summer of Superman initiative. Yesterday, the release of Summer of Superman Special One-Shot launched the next phase of The Man of Steel’s Adventures. However, the real festival begins tomorrow, Super Monday. Super Monday is perhaps the world’s first and best superhero celebration.
It debuted almost 90 years ago on April 18, 1938 on the page of Action Comic #1 by author Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the characters have changed the world of pop culture forever. Fans can celebrate tomorrow in a number of ways.
Filmmaker James Gunn has made him hydrophobic about whether a new trailer will be released shortly after the recent sneak peak, but it seems safe to expect some new release from the much-anticipated film.
McFarlane Toys has already bullied on social media that fans and collectors look forward to unveiling a tie-in product for the film. With a bet, if not tomorrow, Funko will soon be unveiling its own Superman Tie-In product. They are trying to limit spending in light of the current state of the economy, but they are probably unable to resist picking up the sight of Crypto and Gardner.
West Coast people must attend Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, which hosts an hour-long guided studio tour focusing on Superman and the DC Universe.
Details below
Superman: The film will be featured by TCM host Ben Mankiwitz and DC president, publisher and chief creative officer Jim Lee. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase. The Warner Bros Studio Store, located at the tour’s welcome center, will be exhibiting DC Comic Book Art from 10am to 5pm, showing off the comic book artist’s special appearances. As a bonus, DC purchases include a free special edition comic book, but the consumables are the last.
For those who have a FOMO case, don’t despair! Max Streaming Service is covered in DC Hub acquisitions, theme rails and placement of preferred content! For those who haven’t cut the cable cord yet, other TBS will air Superman-themed Big Bang Theory Marathon, My Adventures in Adult Swim with Superman Mini Marathon, and the Teen Titans Go from Cartoon Network! marathon.
Similarly, DC Studios Showcase: The Podcast will release a special episode hosted by NERD Commenki Smith and entertainment journalist Tyler Coates along with comic correspondent Coy Jandreau. The trio celebrate what Superman means to them, diving deep into the history of iconic superheroes and the enduring impact Superman has had on pop culture. DC Studios Showcase: Official podcasts are available on Max and Max YouTube.
Tomorrow may be school day, but even students can enjoy Superman Day through the DC Superpower Storyteller Initiative. Details below:
DC’s super-powerful storytellers arrive at classrooms, homes and after-school clubs to help middle school students unlock inner superheroes and tell the story with courage and authenticity. The WBD Education Initiative features comic book-inspired activities, including a virtual field trip to DC headquarters and Warner Bros. Studios, showing students the world of DC’s legendary superheroes and iconic blockbuster films as they uncover the secrets that create bold, action-packed adventures. Click here for details.
And of course, the best way to celebrate Superman Day is to visit a local comic bookstore where fans can get a selection of Superman-curated comics, including free copies.
