The good news is that Andrew McLean is back. The bad news is that he has an eternal fight to the death on his hands. But I think that’s good news, as it’s another stylish and violent fantasy comic from the creator of Head Lopper!
This time, MacLean teams up with artist Alexis Gillitt (Space Riders) as a co-creator. While Death Fight Forever successfully kickstarted as a graphic novel, the serialized version will begin as a five-issue mini-series from Image Comics in February 2026.
Like Head Lopper, this is a mashup of genres. This time’s theme is retro games, kung fu, and strange characters.
In Death Fight Forever, super-thief bruiser brothers Crash and Bash Biggle spring into action to help Commander Thunderfang fight interdimensional crime boss Lord Slither. But a conflict with Mara Mendoza, the leader of the COPZ gang and Slither’s most formidable supporter, changes the course of Bash’s life forever.
“‘Death Fight Forever’ was born out of a love of ’90s fighting games and a desire to write a comic that focused on the coolest art styles of our time,” MacLean said.
The PR for this piece was a little light on who was doing what, but whoever is doing it, the art is very bold. Issue #1 will be available in comic book shops on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 with three covers:
McClane cover A
Cover B: Alex Gillitt Cover C: Dylan Barnett
And some internal pages:
Death Fight Forever will also be available on many digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
