“Civil Corps” is an exciting arc for Green Lantern, and it’s wild to realize it hasn’t crossed over with any other comic book series. This event shows that the Green Lantern title is indeed going all-in, and this issue proves it. With so much going on, we finally understand why the Green Lantern Corps and its many ring users are so needed by Earth, with evil coming from all directions. So how do Jeremy Adams and Xermanico bring excitement and entertainment to this issue?

I think it’s incredible that Earth’s Green Lanterns, from Alan Scott to Sojourner Mullane, have appeared in this issue. This may be the first time all these generations and heritages have worked together. It must be quite a task to satisfy fans of the Lantern, but Jeremy Adams shows he’s willing to take his time with all these legacies in this issue, showing just how evil Saaros and Valon are. It shows. Plus, this is the first arc of DC All In, so that’s great. This series shows that it can appeal to all fans because there are so many options. I hope certain Lantern fans have more opportunities to check out another legionary.

I also appreciate how Jeremy Adams pushes his villains to the extreme with their invasion and appropriation of the emotional spectrum. The aftermath of this event, if played correctly, could lead to some fascinating stories in future arcs. Valon was such a badass villain here that I might want to check out the Green Lantern War Journal series again to learn more about his background. I like the way Valon is played in this issue, where even the Dahlan family fears him, and their big fears are realized in this issue, exaggerating the dangerous element of the big showdown.
I want to bring up Xermanico because his abilities add so much style to this issue. I love how the characters pop out of the panels as they progress. The pages and panels depicting the leveling up of villains and heroes are so eye-catching that they could be used as covers or posters. Colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr. is credited with bringing color and energy together in the art and enhancing the moment. I love how this issue ends. The cliffhanger first page dropped my jaw, but by the second page my excitement reached incredible heights. This event is so unique that the stakes feel so important for the DCU that we can’t wait to see how it ends.

Sinestro and Kyle Rayner have their biggest moments in this issue about how powerful they are as ring wielders
Spectrum Rings and Source Lanterns are explored and find their way into the Lantern mythology in a way that deserves the attention it deserves.
The only thing holding this single issue back is the fact that it’s part of an arc, but what a great issue nonetheless
