Grant Morrison is reuniting with co-creator Steve Yowell for a new adventure in the 1993 Vertigo comic “Sebastian O”, the writer announced in his newsletter on Tuesday.
Morrison made this announcement in a larger context, saying that working on the Batman/Deadpool crossover has reinvigorated his passion for writing comics.
“I thought I’d give the late-career comeback I hear so much about a try!” Morrison wrote.
It seems likely that the Sebastian O sequel will be part of DC Comics’ own revitalized Vertigo slate, which announced 10 new comics at New York Comic Con this month. This work joins 100 Bullets as the second Vertigo title from the past to continue into this new era.
For the uninitiated, Sebastian O is a three-issue miniseries that ran in Vertigo’s early days. I’m a big fan of this book myself, but I’ve always wondered why there’s only a single story arc. Also, I just found out on Wikipedia that this work was originally commissioned as part of Disney’s Touchmark work, but was canceled at the proposal stage. Then I made the jump to Vertigo.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s announcement hinted at other new comics in the works, writing: “Some of the horror stuff I’ve talked about before, ‘Hangman’s Song’ and ‘Vaster Than Empires.’ ‘Worlds Collide,’ with director and ‘Beat of War’ creator Etienne Kubwabo, was finally back on schedule after being pushed back from this year to late 2026.”
