Back in the hazy days of summer (a month ago), a mysterious image of Grant Morrison with an ice cream theme was floating around, and speculation about its esoteric meaning turned out to be correct. He’s coming to the Ice Cream Man page.

And they brought friends. Mr. Morrison joins Ice Cream Man creator W. Maxwell Prince (Art Brut, Swan Songs, Ha Ha), artists Martin Morazzo and Chris O’Halloran, as well as Patton Oswalt, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Matt Fraction, Jeff Lemire, Geoff Johns, Zoe Thorogood, Deniz Camp and Frank Barbiere. These heavyweights contribute one-page horror stories with art by Morazzo and O’Halloran.

Special anthology issue 43 will be released in January 2025.

In the Ice Cream Man anthology series, mysterious horror host Rick delivers delicious frights for all tastes. This genre-defying comic series features short stories of sadness, wonder, and redemption, with each installment featuring a bizarre cast of characters and their own special Sunday of suffering. And just like the scintillating music of the colorful trucks, on the periphery of it all is the ice cream man, weaving stories and serving sweet treats. friend. enemy. God. devil. A man who can change the course of your life forever with just a snap of his fingers.

“How lucky are we? Some of the most beloved writers in comics have agreed (or maybe you could say tricked) to contribute to our one-page horror stories! “Our MO is always compressing so we can fit an entire story onto one floppy, but this is a whole new level and a whole new challenge,” said Prince. We hope you like our little stories and appreciate our guests and their brilliant minds even more.”

The spooky confection known as the Ice Cream Man has become a cult favorite among readers, and screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Miller (Wednesday, Beetlejuice) are currently working on a film adaptation. And if you like ice cream in even bigger sizes, the Volume 10 collection will be available in November. The entire town of Gary. And a two-part unpacking about unzipping and compressing and the particular impressions they tend to create.

Ice Cream Man #43 will be available in comic book shops on Wednesday, January 15th.
