If you’re looking for a great mid-range smartphone for yourself or a loved one among the early Black Friday deals, your search may be over. Google’s Pixel 8a has been released. It fell $100 to $399.
This isn’t the cheapest price we’ve seen for this device. At one point it fell to $380. But if you’re looking for a great phone without breaking the bank, this is still a great deal. This price is for the configuration with 128GB of storage, but the 256GB model is also $100 off at $459.
The Google Pixel 8a is our pick for the best mid-range smartphone on the market. Both the 128 GB and 256 GB versions are $100 off on Black Friday.

The Pixel 8a is our pick for the best overall midrange smartphone. I gave it a score of 90 in the review.
Thanks to Google’s inclusion of the Tensor G3 chip, the Pixel 8a supports many of the same AI features as the flagship Pixel device. The camera feels good, and the 6.1-inch 120Hz OLED display certainly looks nice.
The Pixel 8a also has great battery life. It lasted 20 hours and 29 minutes in our video rundown test, actually beating the Pixel 8 by 13 minutes. On the downside, wireless charging is quite slow at up to 7.5W.
The bezel is also a little thicker than I like, but the rest of the design is pretty smooth. Another advantage is that the Pixel 8a has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, so it has some durability.
