The Google Nest Wired Indoor Camera is on sale for $70 via Amazon as part of its early Black Friday sale. Cams are normally $100, so this is a 30% savings. This is near record lows, which is not a bad thing at all. The sale includes three colorways including white, beige, and light blue.
As the name suggests, the second-generation wired device is designed for indoor use and can capture 1080p HDR video. It’s sensitive to movement and uses a few AI tricks to distinguish between people, animals, and vehicles. This camera has night vision and can record events for an hour on the device itself, which can be helpful if your Wi-Fi goes out.
The camera includes both a microphone and a speaker, so it has two-way audio capability. You can launch the associated Google Home app and start a conversation. The app also lets you call emergency services right away if a conversation doesn’t go as planned, but that requires a Nest Aware subscription.
This brings up a pretty significant warning, but it happens with most modern security cameras. There’s a lot of stuff locked behind the aforementioned Nest Aware paywall that costs $8 a month or $80 a year. This plan provides buyers with 60 days of video history and the ability to watch live streams on smart displays and smart TVs. Subscribers can also receive alerts when a familiar face is recognized by the camera.
