Image Comics has announced that Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans will be reuniting with Die: Loaded. The new volume is chosen a year after the original comic (which originally ran from 2018 to 2021) and returns from the world he created as a teenager, and the protagonist tries to live a normal life again. “They’ve finished the game,” the summary says. “But the game doesn’t end with them.” Like many Gillen comics, the series received a three-page teaser, but is warned, but ruins the original series.

“Die was created by us to talk about fantasy and reality. As long as we have a story to tell, we die just by saying: we have read exactly what we have to share, please and move you.” Hans said, “As an artist, it’s very unique to expand the universe where we pour so much love into. Die is a work of art and has the privilege of shaping it together with Kieron.”

Exclusive to Rascal, Gillen was asked if the book was standalone or if it needed to read the original. He said, “In some respects, it’s a sequel, and it marks a year since the end of the last book, but is designed to be consumed in itself. He also teased “some strong scam satires here,” revealing that he “is attended Gen Con for the first time to study and explore the weaknesses of the US game.”

Additionally, tabletops based on the comics of Die: Roleplaying games, Rowan, Rook, and Decard will receive a new “quickstart” (a cheaper edition of game base rules and settings). Gillen features a standalone adventure called “the dream we had as children.” “Years have passed, he adds that the comic will feature new backup materials for the game, including beasts and character sheets,” Gillen said.

Head to Rascal for more details on what is planned for the game. The game’s new quickstart has no street days at the time of writing, but Die: Loaded #1 will be released in the main cover of Hans and a variant by Peach Momoko. In the meantime, Gillen’s next image project, a collection of images! Story Closer (created by Steve Lieber and Tamra Bonvillain) arrives on September 3rd and with Power Fantasy’s second trade paperback (Caspar Wijngaard), followed by the 12th issue of that series on October 8th.
