Courtesy of Dark Horse Comics, the publisher and Swedish rock band Ghost have collaborated with frontman Tobias Forge, writer Corinna Bechiko (Avatar: Adapt or Die), and artist Puste (Batman). & Scooby-Doo Mysteries), colorist Thiago Rocha (Kill All Immortals), and letterer Jimmy Betancourt (Ghostbusters: Back in Town). The comic, which debuts on March 5, 2025, reveals the origin of the title character, a prominent figure in the group’s extensive backstory regarding a demonic cleric.

A mysterious figure, Sister Imperator did not begin her life as a respected representative of the clergy and a behind-the-scenes observer of the Ghost’s dark machinations. The gruesome events that made her both beloved and feared begin in a small New England town and set her on a winding path of violence and revenge, until finally revealed.
Bechiko commented: “As a Ghost fan, it was a dream come true to be able to work with Tobias to bring the story of Sister Imperator to life. Her history is rich, tragic, and people love her. Dark Horse is cruel in ways that go beyond what you think you know about the character. The team has put together something really special here, and I’m sure the art will blow everyone away. I write a lot of amazing women, from Vampirella to Wonder Woman. In all the opportunities I’ve had, I’ve never written a character as impactful as Sister Imperator. It’s been a unique privilege to work on this project, and I can’t wait for the world to see the result! ”

Founded in 2006, Ghost is primarily a band of pseudonyms, publicly calling themselves the Nameless Ghouls of the United Clergy. Although their themes and images have proven controversial, they are slowly and surely gaining a devoted following in America. The band won the American Music Award for Favorite Rock Album in 2022, the iHeartRadio Award for Best Rock Album in 2023, and the concert film Rite Here, Rite Now was released earlier this year. It broke box office records when it was released, becoming the highest grossing hardware film ever. The best rock movie of all time. The comic will coincide with a new world arena tour starting in the UK in April.
