Prime Day is almost here, but you don’t have to wait any longer to find great deals. Case in point: Both PS5 Slim models have dropped by $50, so if you’ve been holding off on making the leap to a current-gen console (and the PS5 Pro is probably a little too expensive), this is for you. A solid discount worth considering. The digital edition (without the disc drive) has been reduced to $400, while the regular edition can be purchased for $450.
The PS5 Slim variant has all the power of the original PS5 unit, but in a slimmer form factor. That’s no laughing matter, considering how chunky the first model was.

The PS5 Slim is on sale for Prime Day, offering discounts worth considering for those who’ve been waiting to make the leap to the current-gen console.
$400 on Amazon
If you purchase the Slim Digital Edition and decide you want a disc drive so you can use Blu-ray, DVD, or physical versions of games on your PS5, you can purchase an $80 accessory. However, it’s worth noting that this add-on has been repeatedly out of stock in preparation for the PS5 Pro, which doesn’t have a built-in disk drive but is compatible with attachments.
The PS5’s game library is pretty solid at the moment, thanks to some killer first-party titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and the very nice Astro Bot. Sony is remastering several major games that debuted on PS4 for the console, including both The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn. There are also many great third-party games ready to play, including the latest EA Sports FC, Madden NFL for sports fans, NBA 2K games, Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and more. And let’s not forget about the small problems of new games. The Call of Duty game will be released in the next few weeks.
So once you get your hands on the PS5 Slim, you’ll have a ton of games to buy and check out. That said, a PS Plus Extra or Premium subscription might be what you want, as it gives you instant access to a huge library of titles.
