A new game mode called Ballistic is coming to Fortnite in early access on December 11th, bringing a 5v5 tactical first-person shooter experience. In ballistic mode, one team is tasked with placing a rift point device, which detonates 45 seconds after being placed. The other team has to stop it. According to a Fortnite blog post, there will initially be one map (Skyline 10) with a limited selection of weapons and items, but more maps will be added in future “major updates.”
“Ballistic is a no-build mode,” says the Fortnite team. “All presets saved in your locker will be carried over to Ballistic, which supports existing Fortnite costumes, back bling, kicks, raps, sprays, and emotes. Pickaxes, contrails, instruments, vehicles, and jam trucks will be used. If you are killed during a round, you will not be able to revive. However, we will be back next round. Team roles switch after six rounds, and the match ends when one team wins seven rounds. You will be able to play ranked or unranked.
Ballistic mode is available everywhere you can play Fortnite except South Korea and Russia, but the team says they are “working to make Ballistic available in both regions.” Being in early access, player feedback will be used to improve the experience as we expand.
