Ford tells EV owners to stop using Tesla adapters

Ford has issued a bulletin asking people to stop using Tesla Supercharger adapters. It says the adapter that connects Ford EVs to NACS chargers has an issue that could slow down charging speeds or risk damaging the ports. The company says it will send a replacement adapter soon and asks users to return the faulty adapter. Shipping costs for both replacement and original items are free.

This is another high-profile stumble for Ford, especially since this adapter has already been delayed multiple times due to supplier issues. Plus, it doesn’t seem like these adapters are toys, considering they’re connected to a supercharger capable of putting out 250kW. Ford is also probably smart that it needed to enter into a charging agreement with Tesla in the first place, and that it plans to adopt NACS as its charging standard in 2025.

It’s powered by the Oryon CPU found in last year’s X Elite laptop chips and uses a 3nm process, which should give you a big performance boost. It will be interesting to see on which devices this shows up and how much faster it is compared to the previous version.
