Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, have announced five all-new GI Joe: Real American Hero Silent Mission one-shots starting April 2nd. One-shots from creators like Phil Hester, DANI & Dan Watters, Leonardo Romero, Andrew Krahnke, Wes Craig, and more will be released weekly in April.

“The importance of Silent Interlude cannot be overstated,” said Skybound Editorial Director Alex Antone. “And to commemorate this historic issue, Skybound invited five of the industry’s best storytellers to write and draw their own silent issue, each playing a different GI Joe character. And while this event is inspired by the original masterpieces of Larry Hama and Steve Leialoha, each issue’s approach is unique, showcasing the unique strengths of these incredible artists.

The face of comic books changed forever when GI JOE: A Real American Hero #21 introduced fans to “Silent Interlude,” an action-packed story with no dialogue. Now, the superstar creator brings you an unforgettable all-new GI JOE silent mission for the month of April 2025.

GI JOE: A Real American Hero #21 Silent Missions Edition ($3.99) will be available in comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

In a separate silent issue by Phil Hester (Green Arrow), fan favorite BEACH HEAD is trapped in the DMZ and chased by an army of Cobras. But can Beachhead save himself and the war orphans he is sworn to protect?

GI JOE: A Real American Hero – Beach Head #1 ($3.99) will be available in comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

The chart-topping team of DANI (Arkham City: The Order of the World) and Dan Watters (Destro, Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon!), the iconic G.I. Joe’s ninja Jinx is tasked with the most dangerous mission of his life. She has 20 seconds (20 pages of real-time action) to escape from Cobra Base on the snowy Mountains of Death.

Roadblock fires a .50 caliber machine gun against a convoy of Cobras led by the high-flying Wild Weasel, a silent issue from Andrew Kranke (Bradrick).

Each will be released on Wednesdays in April this year. Phil Hester, Dani and Dan Watters, Leonardo Romero, Andrew Kranke, Wes Craig and many more creative killers. In honor of Silent Mission Month, Skybound is also releasing a “Silent Mission” edition of the historic “Silent Interlude”, GI JOE: A Real American Hero #21. This includes a new letter from Larry Hama.

This, along with the shared Energon Universe featuring Robert Kirkman’s ongoing series Void Rivals, is the basis for a historic collaboration between Skybound and Hasbro.
