To celebrate the 31st anniversary of Dam Breton’s nocturnes, Dark Horse Comics has announced the release of Nocturnes: The Sinister Pass, a four-volume limited series written and illustrated by Breton and written by Royce Buharis. The book was originally released as a graphic novel for Big Wow Art in 2017, and was available for the first time with a single issue, including additional story pages, character art, and more.
Today, Beat has the exclusive first look of Nocturnals: The Sinister Path #1. The story takes place during a war between monsters as a group of vigilantes (honorable nocturne) and investigates the death of a powerful figure and the vacuum of the remaining power. Here’s the complete overview:
Evil rises while the town sleeps. War is fought for the spirits of the Pacific City by humans and supernatural monsters. But some of the monsters are by our side. Leading by Doc Horror, His Daughter Night, and their Misfit Vigilantes band, Nocturnals are all about facing the underworld of ENT criminals.
The death of the mysterious judge Hemlock opens a vacuum of eerie power in the underworld of Eldrich in the Pacific city. Dawn Horror, evening, when Gunwich, an armed Renavent, invests in the Hemlock house of Occult Enshud, what they find leads them down a twisted, deadly, ominous path.

“Someone recently described nocturne as a really good dream,” Breton said in the announcement. “It’s pretty close to how I feel about it. It’s a good dream that you’re totally immersed and you don’t want to finish it, and when you wake up and come back.
Nocturne: Ominous Pass #1 will be available on September 3rd at digital and local comic shops.
