Dark Horse has announced the English version of the next comic collection by the legendary Jean “Mobius” Giraud, “Moebius Library: The Melancholy Hunter.” The book, to be published next summer, is written and illustrated by Moebius, translated by Diana Schutz, and lettered by Adam Pruett.
The Melancholy Hunter is a prequel to The Major, in which Major Groubert, trying to stop feeling sad, finds himself caught in the middle of a tragic plot against his life. Here is the full synopsis by Dark Horse:
In this graphic novel prequel to The Major, Major Grubert from Mobius tries to get rid of Bruce, but gets caught up in a surreal adventure. Taking a vacation to an airtight garage to clear his mind, Groubert goes straight to plotting his own assassination. As the Major goes undercover, the late great French cartoonist Möbius draws The Melancholy Hunter, transporting readers into the complex world of the Major’s dreams and nightmares in the gorgeous, exquisite pen-and-ink work for which he is best known. This is another intense psychedelic adventure that only Mobius can take us on.
Like other works in the Moebius Library collection, The Depressed Hunter will be released in hardcover. This book will be available wherever books are sold on June 9, 2026. Pre-orders are available now.
