Samsung’s first Unpacked event of 2025 saw the unveiling of the Galaxy S25 series, as expected. Although the phone’s specs haven’t been dramatically upgraded, the company has included a lot of content. — Build more AI into your devices. This latest batch is more context-sensitive and predictive, and some of it even squeezes more out of the phone’s mildly upgraded hardware.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra remains the biggest, best, and most expensive of the bunch. It features a 6.9-inch display and more rounded edges for a “comfortable grip.” According to Samsung, this is the “thinnest, lightest, and most durable Galaxy Ultra device ever” and is made of titanium with Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2 for “advanced drop protection” and scratch resistance. It has a body.
Unlike the two smaller models, the Ultra’s camera sensor has upgraded specifications. The ultra-wide lens is now 50MP, up from just 12MP on last year’s model.
Like its sibling, the S25 Ultra is powered by a customized version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which enables the three phones to handle many of the AI experiences on-device. Of course, that would be better from a privacy perspective.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with 12GB of RAM and ships in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage tiers. However, it’s still a significant investment – starting at $1,300.
Galaxy S25 and S25+

The Galaxy S25 and S25+ have upgraded RAM from 8GB in the 2024 model to 12GB (same as the Ultra). Paired with Snapdragon 8 Elite, it can better handle many of the phone’s AI features. (More details later)
The rest of the hardware is very similar to the S24 and S24+. They still come with 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively. But Samsung’s new ProScaler AI tool can upscale images in real-time, presumably to compensate for the unchanged specifications. Samsung says it can improve the quality of what you see by 40 percent.
Storage is also unchanged from the S24 series, with 128GB or 256GB for the Galaxy S25 and 256GB or 512GB for the Galaxy S25+. Luckily, the price hasn’t changed either. Pay over $800 for the S25 and over $1,000 for the S25+.
Galaxy AI

With most hardware upgrades (aside from the Snapdragon chip) being soft in this generation, Samsung has put a lot of emphasis on AI features that will make you want to throw your hard-earned money at the new model. This year, we aim to become more personalized and context-sensitive, to become a context-aware assistant rather than just a set of one-off tools.
AI plays a central role in the phone’s camera capabilities, and the Qualcomm chip improves the phone’s noise analysis, which Samsung says will improve low-light performance.
