Crypto and David Corenswett’s Superman from James Gunn. – Warner Bros. Pictures
It’s been a while since James Gunn and Peter Saffron unveiled the first DC studio slate for “God and the Monster,” and a lot has changed in the meantime. Superman was out and was successful enough for Warner Bros. to greenlight the sequel. Peacemaker concludes its second season and is about to introduce DC’s multiverse in a very specific and limited way. And we don’t take a year from the second Supergirl feature film ever.
Tracking over dozens of movies and television projects is not easy. The announcement and logo have been up to date through what is already in post-production, so we understand Gunn’s public comments and provide you with the latest updates on the status of the DC Universe.
The original “Gods and Monsters” slate is just as good as anything. So there was one that was first announced.

Since then, many projects have been added to that slate. Currently planned feature films include Wonder Woman, Clayface, The Teen Titans and Sergeant. Rock and the sequel to Superman of Tomorrow. Also added: the animated Blue Beetle series. This is set to bring Xolo Maridueña home as Jaime Reyes, an animated adaptation of Tom King’s Mister Miracle Comic.
So…where are we?
Well, Creature Command has appeared in a powerful review of HBO Max and a large number of people. The streamer has already ordered the second season of the show, introducing Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, who appeared in the Cancer Superman film this summer.
Superman has earned more than $600 million at the global box office. It’s not the Avengers numbers, but rather powerful in post-Covid theatre settings. It was the biggest superhero film of the year, beating Fantastic Four: First Step and fully succeeding the sequel to Warner Bros. Green Light – Man of Tomorrow – Of Tomorrow – of Tomorree.
According to Superman’s commentary track, Justice Gang is a “proto version” that could eventually become a justice league. Gunn also explained that there are three groups in which three groups are fighting for power: Corporate, Metahaman and the government. And the events of Superman turned the scale upside down in ways the government didn’t like.
And a piecemaker cameo by Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) sets the stage for the events of Man of Tomorrow.
Peacemaker debuted a second season and six episodes, controlling social media topics on the release date. Last week’s episode revealed the “big twist” of the season, setting the competition for the last two episodes. According to Gunn, who hosts Peacemaker Aftershow podcasts with cast members Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland, characters appearing elsewhere aren’t necessarily the third Peacemaker season, but he doesn’t rule that out.
Peacemakers are, if you recall, outliers in the DC universe, because they are bound by the suicide squad set in the DC extended universe, the “old” DC universe that has disappeared following the acquisition of DC Studios by Gunn and Safran. It’s fascinating to choke everything, from events to events that change the time of flash. – But in reality there is no explanation within the universe. This is just… not the same universe.
However, Suicide Squad is the “Soft Canon” of the DC Universe. Gunn said he wanted to see Idris Elba’s Bloodsport again and resisted commenting directly on whether Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn would be back. The “previous Peacemaker” section at the start of Season 2 revealed that, as viewers remember, events from Peacemaker’s first season took place more or less.
(And also apparently the bloody line that sends Superman to the hospital with a Kryptonite bullet is now discontinuous. Fans picked up on that line and asked repeatedly after Superman’s opening text showed that he had never lost the battle before.)
Recently, Gunn said in an interview that he was uninterested in exploring his relationship with his teammates after the Suicide Squad. They would have been surprised to find out he wasn’t dead – perhaps when he appeared on the news broadcast as he would be seen in Superman – but Gunn says he is already exploring the Peace Director’s betrayal fallout with the character of Rick Flag.
The existence of writer Tom King is both Mr. Miracle and Supergirl, but it’s no one’s guess how much Supergirl is a literal adaptation of a female woman. Originally published as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the project lost its subtitles a few months ago…but because female women were not a direct adaptation of the comics, they lost its subtitles.
Authorities and Waller reportedly were moved to a backburner. Gunn says that even with projects already announced, he will not be greenlighting a film or TV series until he is satisfied with the state of the script.
In particular, authorities feel that it is a difficult asset to fit into the DC universe that has existed so far. The film feels like it could fall completely off schedule – or maybe it’s an Elseworlds project like Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II.
Booster Gold has also been in Limbo for a while, but it appears to be getting a better humming as DC announced that our flag means that Death creator David Jenkins will serve as the showrunner for the project. Still, don’t believe all of those rumours until you actually see something coming from the studio or at least something coming from a reliable deal.
The first live-action television project after Peacemaker is the Lantern. This is already in post-production and is set to be released next year along with the Supergirl and Clayface films. Supergirl is also in the post office, and Clayface is currently in production. The film is directed by Mike Flanagan, who has been on one of Hollywood’s hottest winning streaks recently.
What does it leave us?
The swamp that came from writer/director James Mangold (Logan) is under development.
Batman: The Brave and The Bold is expected to introduce a new version of Dark Knight in the DC Universe, which is separate from the “Elseworlds” branded version played by Robert Pattinson. The script is not ready yet and hasn’t been cast as Batman, but it’s clearly a corporate priority. Because it’s Batman. The film is to be directed by The Flash and IT director Andy Muschietti. Gunn recently revealed what he’s heard from many well-known actors who want to play Batman in DCU.
Paradise Lost, a television series that is expected to focus on Amazon but not Star Wonder Woman, hasn’t been updated for a while, but has confirmed that Gun is still in work. Along the way, he reveals that they are working on a script for a new Wonder Woman film, but it’s unlikely that Galgadot will recreate the role.
The Teen Titans also appeared in the films of Anna Nogueira, who has written Supergirl and is also working on Wonder Woman. There is no word yet as to which characters will make up the Titan lineup.
Sergeant. The rock starring Star Colin Farrell has fallen from the development calendar for the time being, but the studio may take it back. Apparently, Challengers Director Luca Guadanino was ready to unfold the film, but was delayed by actual concerns. According to variety, filming was required during the summer and it didn’t start anytime soon. Now they may lose Guadanino.
