DC Comics has announced Metamorpho: The Element Man, a new serialized series by Al Ewing and Steve Lieber set to debut on December 25. Issue #1, with colors by Lee Loughridge and letters by Ferran Delgado, features a cover by Erica Henderson, Ian Bertram and Steve Beach.
“This is 100% fun comics delivered with total confidence, heartfelt joy and without a wink at the camera,” Ewing said of the new series. “It’s a love letter to Bob Haney, Ramona Fradon and the wildest, wackiest superhero spirit. We aim to capture Metamorpho’s essential, wonderful wackiness as if it were lightning in a bottle and spice it up in our own unique way.”
So what is Metamorpho: The Element Man?
To know him is to love him. He is the one and only Rex Mason, aka Metamorpho… But can he prevail against Psy-Clops, the hairy eyeball of crime who watches over us from the top of the pop charts to the depths of evil and the far-flung Lar-Realm? To find out, Element Man must survive a handpicked assassin worthy of his own match… And that’s just the first issue!
“It’s our take on classic DC Comics,” Ewing continued, “with one-off stories sure to satisfy the most discerning meta-addicts, month after month. A thousand changes of strange happenings that escalate into something so outrageous that they seem like a one-way ticket to nowhere. Who is the terrifying Mister 3?
