Madden NFL has been around for nearly 40 years (actually), so it’s about time the game series got the documentary treatment. Prime Video has your back. The platform just announced that “It’s in the Game: Madden NFL” will be streamed on November 26, just before Thanksgiving.
The four-part documentary series explores “one of the greatest video games of all time,” which “spanned generations and became a global phenomenon.” The show explores Madden’s “old-school 8-bit origins that led to its success as an annual staple.” Prime Video says EA Sports has given them access to the vault, so there should be plenty of new footage for die-hard fans.
The story goes that EA founder Trip Hawkins turned to commentator John Madden for support and expertise in 1984, but the game went through four long years of development before being released in 1988. It cost. This extension of development time is said to have been requested by Madden himself. Real soccer experience. I’m sure the documentary will portray all of that.
Formerly known as John Madden Football, the franchise became an annual event in 1990 and changed its name to Madden NFL in 1993. More than 130 million copies of these games have been sold worldwide since 1988. The latest edition, Madden NFL 25, was released in August to fairly middling reviews.
