Dynamite brings this all-new era to life from superstar writer David Pepose (Space Ghost, Cable) and artist Eman Casaros (Vampirella, Pathfinder) as Earth’s ultimate defender takes on a thrilling new chapter. I would like to announce that I am back.
Five young people from around the world are chosen to master Gaia’s Elemental Ring and become humanity’s last hope. Each Planeteer gains control over one of Earth’s major elements: Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Heart. In times of great need, they can join forces and summon Earth’s greatest hero, Captain Planet.
Kwame, a native of Ghana, commands the powers of the earth.
Wheeler, who hails from the United States, channels the element of fire.
Linka is from Russia and has the ability to manipulate the wind.
Gi, from Korea, controls the power of water.
Matty from Brazil uses the power of the heart.
Prepose is excited to make his mark on this series.
Every comic book creator has their own white whale, a unique property they’re itching to make their mark on. And for over a decade, Captain Planet was mine.
Prepose and Casallos have combined their experience to present the first Captain Plant comic in over 30 years. They begin the story with an energetic and faithful modernization of the series, similar to Pepose’s approach to the blockbuster Space Ghost series.

Before these would-be environmental warriors can seize their newfound power to pursue environmental justice, they must first learn to trust each other. When Gaia is kidnapped, it becomes even more of a trial by fire, with the inexperienced Planeteers forced to learn on the ground against the immense power of the well-funded Lucien Plunder. Their first test against Earth’s ruthless exploiters isn’t all that difficult, but it all starts here!
Pepose takes an ambitious approach by transforming this beloved 1990s cartoon into a comic series of unprecedented scale and tone. The series is designed to resonate with younger readers, including the next generation of fans as well as longtime fans who grew up with the show and are becoming more attuned to real-world issues that reflect the challenges of the Planeteers. Pepose talks about his excitement about spotlighting all the main characters, giving each one their own emotional arc, showcasing the power of Captain Planet, and reintroducing some of the show’s iconic villains.
