Panic Entertainment’s Tama has given a disturbing twist to virtual Pokemon, and today Beat can reveal the cover art of the second issue of the fun horror series. Written by Panick co-founders Adam Schlagman and Doug Pasko in letters from Daniel HDR Art, Colors by Peter Pantazis and Patrick Brosseau, Tama is one of the first titles to launch nationwide in 2025.
Tama tracks a sad teenage kit who becomes friends with an obsolete virtual pet, but soon experiences a series of horrifying deaths with an unlikely common denominator. Kit is not sure how, but his virtual companion seems to not only interact with the real world, but destroy it. Bloody.

“I’ve always been a huge Pokemon fan. From the animated series to video games to card games, I tried to catch everything. Schragman said of the inspiration for the series.
For Pasco, inspiration comes from a different kind of pet. “My most memorable virtual pet of my childhood was the fur I got for my birthday,” Pasco said. “I absolutely loved it, but then I lost interest. I ended up silencing the battery. Rather than writing Tama’s issues, I don’t think about how angry Farby is if he wakes up one day.
