Robot vacuums make cleaning much more convenient, but depending on the layout of your home, they may not work with all floor plans. Chinese appliance maker Dreame hopes to address this problem with its X50 robot vacuum cleaner, which can climb small stairs without assistance.
The robot vacuum isn’t yet available in the U.S., but it’s already generating buzz thanks to a teaser posted on YouTube last year (the X50 is already available in China). Now, the $1,699 X50 is making its U.S. debut at CES 2025, and Dream is giving us a closer look at its capabilities.
According to Dreame, the X50 can climb stairs up to 6 cm (approximately 2.4 inches) in height thanks to its “ProLeap system.” This system utilizes a motorized arm located underneath the vacuum that can swing to climb over steps. So while the X50 won’t be able to climb full-sized stairs (according to Google, the average home staircase height is 7 to 8 inches), it should be able to get over small steps and other obstacles. . Other robot vacuum cleaners may malfunction.
In addition to its ability to climb stairs, the X50 can move under furniture and identify up to 200 different objects, helping it detect obstacles in its path. It also has a built-in warm water mop and special brush to help you sweep hair without tangles.
Dreame will begin pre-ordering the X50 on January 7th, and those who pre-order will also receive a two-year extended warranty and an additional cleaning kit. Vacuum will be officially available on Amazon and Dreame’s website on February 14th.
