Marvel Comics has revealed that Derek Landy and Carlos Magno will be taking over the role of Doctor Strange, along with Doctor Strange of Asgard. Released on March 5th, Doctor Strange will be the Sorcerer Supreme of Asgard!
“It was a daunting prospect to take over the reins of Doctor Strange and lead him into a new era,” Randy said. “Following a story that has seen a major creative leap forward by an amazing creative team over the last few years would have been a scary prospect without editor Alana Smith’s key direction: move him to Asgard.” ”Suddenly we enter new territory and not only does Strange have to deal with Asgardian society at street level, but he is also embroiled in a murder mystery for which there really is no time. ”
So what is Doctor Strange of Asgard?
Sorcerer Supreme is no more!
Doctor Doom tricked Doctor Strange into giving up the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Now Doom rules the world, and Stephen Strange is… having a bit of an identity crisis. Seeking purpose, and perhaps revenge, he travels to Asgard to see if the Sorcerer Kingdom is searching for its own Sorcerer Supreme. Loki is willing to help, but his help comes with some unexpected pitfalls, and Strange soon discovers that becoming Asgard’s supreme authority on magic is more difficult than he expected.
“It’s still a scary prospect to do this, don’t get me wrong, but at least we have Carlos and Espen (Grundejern) in the team to make it look like we know what we’re doing. It helps,” Randy added.

“When I was asked to draw Doctor Strange of Asgard, I imagined readers watching a sorcerer immerse himself in the glorious, magical splendor of Asgard, with its giant statues and fantastical architecture.” explained Magno. “This time, happily, Derek Landy and I are going to throw our readers into the dark side of the Thunder God’s homeland. Here, Doctor Strange takes us into the heart of evil. There, his immense power seems to have little effect on Asgard, which readers have never seen before. It reflects the world we live in today.”
