The Wii U was a failed console, with some great games being overlooked. Many of these titles have already been ported to the Nintendo Switch, but here’s one more. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is coming to Switch on March 20th. Pre-orders are currently being accepted.
This refreshed version of the 2015 action RPG features “enhanced visuals, added story elements, and more.” As the name suggests, this is touted as the definitive edition of the game. The trailer is embedded below, and the graphics are quite appealing. The trailer also includes a mysterious hooded figure. Nintendo says “stay tuned for more information” about this new character.
This definitive edition includes several multiplayer components. Players can join online squads to take on missions and fight bad guys. In the main story, you can also recruit other players’ avatars to your team. There is an exchange feature where you can fill your party with avatars of your friends and family.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is generally considered to be one of the most powerful entries in the series, with its vast open-world maps as well as giant beasts to slay. There are five continents to explore on the hostile planet Mira. You can also travel around the world in a giant mech. The stories stand on their own, so you don’t need to be familiar with the lore.
This isn’t the first Xenoblade game to receive the refresh treatment. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is a remake of the first title in the franchise and was released for Switch in 2020.
