Death to Pachuco is a new Kickstarter comic by Henry Barajas, Rachel Merrill, and Lee Loughridge set in the aftermath of the 1943 Zoot Suit Riots and the Sleepy Lagoon Murders in Los Angeles. This Chicano noir-inspired story depicts the hardship, injustice, and resilience of the Chicano community during a tumultuous time in history.
Barajas says “Death in Pachuco” is an important story that is little known to most people.

Co-creator and artist Merrill says that from Death to Pachuco there were many levels that involved people’s agency in order to exist.
It also means policing people’s bodies. The zoot suit itself
Political statements, and fashion, play an important role in the stories we are trying to tell.
