The end is near: Image Comics has announced that COPRA will cease to exist in January 2025. The four-issue final installment of Michelle Fyffe’s ongoing indie love letter to superheroes (and Suicide Squad) will be released on January 8, 2025 at 32 pages. .

The first issue will feature five variant covers, four by Fif and one by Jeff Lemire.

COPRA and its cast of mercenaries have garnered critical acclaim and a growing fan base since Fif began self-publishing the series in November 2012. With the help of Bergen Street Press, the writer and artist’s series quickly hit shelves. In 2019, COPRA transitioned to Image Comic (though the partnership wasn’t without some wrinkles). The mainline series is currently at 45 issues and has spawned a prequel and spinoff series. A four-part arc in 2023 already foretold the series’ conclusion.

Image’s press release reads:

“Michelle Fyffe’s acclaimed superhero revenge epic begins an action-packed, high-octane finale story arc with the upcoming death of COPRA. This four-issue miniseries will be published in 2025 by Image Comics. It will be released in January.”

addition:

“Not only does the new story tie up loose ends with big payoffs, but the main event features COPRA looking at an entirely new status quo forced upon them. Now in the midst of dramatic changes and a painful breakup.” It’s time, but the team won’t lose without a fight.”

Speaking about the end of the beloved series, Michelle Fyffe said:

“The whole thing is bittersweet and perfect in a way. The story of COPRA is dual-faced: brutal yet tender, exaggerated and defined by human nuances, and a story that leads us to look into the future.” It is made with love for the history of manga.

“These characters have been going through the wringer for a long time. Some receive retribution, others receive retribution. All of these moments are accelerating toward this critical home line. COPRA has traditionally been a single ongoing story, but this final arc needed its own space to unfold.

“I’m lucky to have loyal readers who have stuck with me over the years. This is an opportunity to maintain a landing in a way that respects their loyalty, while also showing the world what COPRA is all about.” is.”
