As announced yesterday during the annual Sonic Central stream, SEGA and Warner Bros. are teaming up in their first official DC Comics collaboration, with a five-issue series set to launch in March 2025. Written by longtime IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics writer Ian Flynn, the series will see Sonic and his friends (aka Team Sonic) and the Justice League “uniting to save the world from a great threat.”
No artist or official team has been announced for the upcoming comic, but Sega’s Sega America senior vice president Ivo Gerskovic revealed that it will feature a mash-up of Team Sonic and DC’s greatest heroes: Shadow the Hedgehog as Batman, Knuckles as Superman, Amy Rose as Wonder Woman, Silver the Hedgehog as Green Lantern, Tails as Cyborg, and Sonic himself as the Flash. Shadow’s appearance as the Dark Knight was teased just a few days before the announcement in a short video released in honor of Batman Day last weekend.
The collaboration will also include apparel, toys, and collectibles later in 2025, to be announced at a later date. For now, DC x Sonic Comics is scheduled to run monthly from March to July 2025, a few months after Shadow makes his big screen debut (voiced by Batman acolyte Keanu Reeves) in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20, 2024.
In the meantime, check out the artwork for Team Sonic, officially released as the Justice League.
