Hearing the heels that unveiled the absolute evil of an absolute space event, DC Comics revealed the next major major Earth storyline, DC KO, which consists of a fifth issue series by author Scott Snyder and artist Jabi Fernandez (Batman & Robin). The publisher’s goal to defeat Darkseid is “The most fun (in the tournament of death) of the year!”
DC KO #1 by Javi Fernandez
A five-storey gladiator arena that shakes the universe emerges from Earth itself, each with a descending level testing the hero in a brutal and symbolic way. the goal? It produces enough omega energy to rival Darkseid and crowns the new king Omega. Omega is a heavenly being in which the universe bends.
“DC KO is a dragout battle with all the knockdowns of your favorite DC superheroes in the Space Tournament and saves the universe from Darkseid,” says Snyder. “Darkseid has evolved into something bigger and more powerful than ever,” Williamson added that Apocolips’ dark god “destroyed the future. There is no future in the DC universe because of what he did – the only shot of the Heroes is to stop him in the present.”
Snyder also explains, “You have to not relent to win, and when you’re out, you’re out.” He describes this as a Superman story, 2017’s Dark Knight Metal, or its sequel, 2020’s Death Metal, centered around Wonder Woman, “I wanted to talk about Superman looking at the heart of darkness. Williamson said, “Each level is a new challenge. And the tournament reveals unexpected heroes.
DC KO #1 was released on October 8, 2025 and comes with a main cover featuring an acetate overlay by Fernandez, retails for $5.99 on 48 pages. The full cover art behind the acetate will be revealed in all of DC: the next panel of San Diego Comic Con (Thursday, July 24th, 11:30am local time, Room 6DE). Comic’s limited edition Ashcans will be available at the DC booth while stock continues. Variant cover artists include Fernandez (a foil version of his cover), Jim Lee, Daniel Warren Johnson, Frank Chou, Scott Cobrish, Jerry, Mike Delmando, Ben Oliver, Nuvovich, Dan Maura and Mark Spears.

In this 32-page comic book publication, which took place on October 22, 2025, Superman and his allies were thrown into a dangerous game to capture Apocolip’s heart deep inside the globe. In Flash #26 it is written with art by Vasco Georgiev, Wally and Impulse Race, written by Mark Waid and Christopher Cantwell! Unlimited Justice League Main Cover by Dan Mora
Finishing the month, Justice League Unlimited #12, which drives action towards DC KO #2 in November, will feature variant covers from Nathan Szerdy, Derrick Chew, Jeff Spokes and Kevin Wada, according to Mark Wade, an art and main cover of Dan Mora. In Justice League Unlimited #12, Michael Holt leads the fantastic Ten on one-way missions to investigate the mystical Terrifictech signals at Earth’s core. What they are revealing is that they may all be doomed.
