DC Comics pulls out plugs from the new Red Hood series and has been announced as a spinoff of Batman’s mature leader. It’s just one problem. Red Food #1 hit the store on September 10th, but DC notified retailers that #2, #3 orders have been cancelled with future installments orders. Also, retailers will be credited for all copies of issue #1, including those already sold. Future issues have already been removed from League of Comic Geeks.
Originally announced in July 2025, Red Hood was intended to be a continuous monthly series set in the main DC universe. The plot features Helena Bertinelli (aka Huntress) alongside Jason Todd (former Robin, now an anti-hero), moving to Louisiana, where he encountered non-stop trouble.
The cancelled issue is scheduled for October 2nd and was issued #3 on November 12th. The creative team included writer Gretchen Velker Martin, interior artist Jeff’s spokesperson and cover artist Taurinklerk.
DC has not released a complete detailed explanation.
If contacted for reasons behind the cancellation, DC Comics provided the following statement: “D.C. Comics places the highest value on creators and communities, and confirms the right to peaceful, individual expressions of personal perspectives.
The response was due to a post about Charlie Kirk about Gretchen Felker Martin’s post about blueskiing, and it appears that they have since been stopped from blueskiing.
