As announced last month, the first Marvel/DC crossover in decades will be released along with the highly anticipated Deadpool/Batman. One Shot introduces the main story written by Zeb Wells, drawn by Greg Capullo and includes additional backup stories by various All-Star comic creators. Fans have wondered what they’re looking forward to other Marvel/DC crossover stories, and today they got the answer.
One-shot backup stories include Jeff the Land Shark and Crypto by Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert, Captain America and Wonder Woman, Chip Zudalski and Terry Dodson, and Kelly Thompson and Grihill. Each story is reflected in its own variant cover. Today, fans can check out Daredevil/Green Arrow covers with acclaimed Daredevil artist Marcocheck and Grihill’s Landshark/Cryptocover. Plus, look at the epic wraparound variant cover by Capro.
Editor Mark Basso shared:
“We go to every corner of the Marvel and DC universe, and the creators are absolutely exploding by finding unexpected, immature connections between these characters. We can’t wait for fans to experience the same jaw dropping moment as us!
Just as comic fans are doing well, filmmaker Kevin Smith is not a man who doesn’t know that he has written a run where Emerald Archer was praised for both characters with “guardian” and “quiver” of the storyline. So it’s pretty fitting to write the first crossover between both characters in the pen.
Meanwhile, Chip Zdarsky will launch a new Captain America title next month. Similarly, it is appropriate to pen two patriotic heroes from the publisher. He provided:
“This is surreal to say the least!” Zdarsky said. “Captain America and Wonder Woman are the best their world has to offer. They are warriors for both peace. Exploring the dynamic history between them is truly exciting.”
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Jeff the Land Shark has become a breakout character for Marvel over the past few years. Meanwhile, Superman’s Super Dog Crypto has seen a popular revival thanks to upcoming Superman movies. So this crossover was easy. According to author Kelly Thompson:
“The first time we’re meeting two icons!” Thompson said. “It’s a great honor for Jeff to be Marvel’s ambassador in this crossover story with Crypto. Anyone who loves comics knows how rare it is for DC and Marvel to crossover, so Jeff will become part of Crypto and this historic moment, and Grihill and I can bring that story to readers.”
Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman #1 arrives on September 17th, 2025.
